AGWA offers a 4 day Researching and Proposal Writing workshop followed on the 5th day by a Review Session and the Certified Grant Writer™ Exam on the 6th day.  The workshop is a hands-on experience where participants develop a program, practice writing sections of a proposal and review peer's writing samples.  Participants receive a Workshop Manual and the following topics will be covered during the workshop:

• Program development using a logic model
• Researching grant opportunities
• Evaluating NOFAs and RFPs
• Researching statistics to document the Statement of Need
• Planning Outcome Based programs
• Planning Program Evaluations
• Planning Non-Profit and Government Program Budgets
• Writing Executive Summaries, Letters of Inquiry, Foundation Proposals, Common Grant Applications and Government Grant Applications

The workshop and review session begin at 8:30 AM and end at 4:30 PM each day.  A morning and afternoon break are provided each day; lunch is on your own.  Dress is casual.

We recommend participants bring a laptop computer for writing exercises and a handheld calculator for budget exercises.  We also recommend bringing a sweater or jacket because meeting rooms often feel chilly.  Some people like to bring a pillow for their chair.  Prior to the workshop, we recommend reading the book "Guide to Proposal Writing" by Jane Geever, which is available at our website bookstore or at many local libraries and bookstores.
