Senior Grantwriter/Coordinator, Brooklyn, NY
The Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health, located in multi-ethnic Brooklyn, collaborates with community members to design, incubate and replicate neighborhood-based interventions that address health conditions that disproportionately affect minorities. Our programs include:
1. After-school science enrichment and health science career exploration for minority youth grades 6-12
2. Culturally tailored outreach initiatives in trusted venues such as salons and barber shops
3. Community participatory research and advocacy
We seek a dynamic senior grant writer/grants manager to ensure the growth and diversification of our funding base. The grantwriter will research, write and submit competitive grant applications to private, corporate and government sources. Additionally, he or she will develop and monitor the funding calendar, submit reports to funders, identify new opportunities, making cultivation calls and following up as needed.
The ideal candidate would have a track record of funded proposals from foundations, corporate funders and government agencies and 4 to 10 years experience. Evidence of excellent writing, research, inter-personal and organizational skills, attention to detail and impeccable time management are required, along with the demonstrated ability to work independently and collegially in a multi-cultural environment. A degree in a related field is a plus, as is familiarity with health, education and social justice funding sources. The Institute offers full benefits and a competitive salary.
